Savage has lead in the industry by pioneering a highly accurate stroke controller (RPC) for fast, accurate, repeatable straightening. The RPC controls ram stopping position to ± .001 inch accuracy.Savage Straightening presses are available in several different models to accommodate your workpieces:

• C-Frame and Fixed frame presses allow the work to be pulled on rollers under the ram.
• Traveling Gantry Presses allow the work to remain stationary while the ram travels over it. Savage has developed narrow width straightening presses and accessories for straightening shafts, tubes, bars and small castings. Savage wide bed presses are used for straightening of plates, weldments and castings.

Traveling Gantry Straightening Presses

Available in 100 ton to 2000 ton sizes. Savage's wide bed TFS type straightening press with 3 axes' of ram movement is specifically designed for straightening or bending large plates, castings or weldments. With these travel gantry straightening presses, the workpiece remains stationary while the pressing ram traverses to the high spot.

Hydraulic work lifters can be installed in the bed to assist in positioning the pressing blocks under the work. These worklifters free up overhead crane usage.

Savage's narrow bed TFS straightening press is the perfect solution for straightening heavy shafts, tubes and bars. The workpiece is loaded onto pressing anvils. The gantry is then traversed over the shaft. Straightening accessories include: Power workpiece rotation, power lift, power anvil positioning and power rotation stand positioning along the bed.

Fixed Frame Straightening Presses

For straightening larger shafts, Savage offers the FF straightening press. Roller stands permit crane loading and workpiece positioning under a fixed ram.

The workpiece must be manually positioned under the ram, by moving it across the rollers. This provides an economical method of positioning heavy workpieces. Lift cylinders are available in the press bed to raise the workpiece for positioning of the press anvils.

Savage horizontal presses are generally used for straightening or bending structural materials. Available in a variety of configurations. Options include conveyors, powered worklifters, powered work rotators, moveable anvil blocks, guided ram, t-slotted bolsters and pushbutton or lever controls.

The 400 ton press pictured is used for bending railroad rails for turning curves.
